A Different Way Now.
The most challenging part of this whole experience is grasping every day without someone you love so deeply. A simple walk for coffee easily becomes a little more important when you remember some people didn't get to do that today. You start to cherish even the small things. The mundane means more.
Healing isn't linear. Thank goodness for that. This new chapter isn't supposed to be smooth. Much like my childhood, it's jagged and harsh. I tried so hard to run away from those feelings. Now I'm forced to feel them. So I will.
Thank God for that.

At least, that's what I thought.
For so long, 30 seemed like this magical age where you were supposed to have everything figured out. You'd know who you were, what you wanted, who you wanted to spend your life with, what your career looked like, and probably have a beautifully decorated apartment and a retirement account while you were at it.
And then I actually turned 30.
Spoiler alert: I did not have everything figured out.
But I did have something arguably better: perspective.
