maybe ally...sees “Hadestown”.
Baby’s first time experiencing the enchanting magic of Hadestown.
How I managed to go this long without finally seeing this truly gorgeous and imaginative show, I’ll likely never comprehend, but I recently received a chance to witness it for myself, all thanks to Armand and the most beautiful and thoughtful birthday gift imaginable. That’s truly the best way I could describe this incredible theater experience: beautiful.
The captivating music, stunning costumes, and intricate set of Hadestown were breathtaking. It’s clear why it won 8 Tony Awards. This critically acclaimed musical by Anaïs Mitchell has truly stolen my heart. Hadestown reimagines the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice with a folk-rock score. It follows Orpheus, a young musician, as he ventures into the underworld to rescue his love, Eurydice, from King Hades and Persephone.
Hadestown’s music is a character itself, blending folk, rock, and blues. Anaïs Mitchell’s poetic yet accessible lyrics convey emotional depth and complexity. From rousing ensemble numbers to heartfelt ballads, the music leaves you spellbound and wanting more. It made me want to go back to New Orleans. I miss it there.
The cast showcases incredible Broadway talent, bringing depth to their respective characters. Everyone did an incredible job. Magnificent work.
Hadestown is a must-see musical for anyone who enjoys music, theater, or mythology. Its mix of folk and rock music, touching storytelling, and outstanding performances make it an unforgettable experience that will inspire and move you. I know I was very moved. Promise I won’t wait so long to see it again.
You can see Hadestown at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
Okay, so let me start by saying: Floyd Collins was not at all what I expected. And honestly? I think that’s the point.
I saw it on a cold spring night — the kind of night where New York City feels exceptionally cinematic and moody — and I went in knowing very little besides the fact that “Jeremy Jordan is in it” (which, let’s be real, was undoubtedly more than enough to entice me to make the trip). But what I experienced was something far more haunting, intimate, and emotionally layered than I could have ever imagined.
