Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion
The Costume Institute’s spring 2024 exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, reactivates our senses with unique tools of artificial intelligence and computer-generated imagery to traditional formats of x-rays, video animation, light projection, and soundscapes.
Utilizing 220 garments & accessories we are connected to nature in incredible ways (hello wall with flower smells!). I was in awe of all the pieces I saw.
From LOEWE to McQueen & even H&M! I kept gasping everywhere I looked, touched, smelled. It was really something to behold. I also got to experience—via Pepper’s ghost (Disney kids just screamed!) the most beautiful “hobble skirt”. It was gorgeous.
This exhibit ends on September 2nd. I’m happy I worked up the nerve to get to @metmuseum before it left. It's like a tradition now to go every year and also grab the accompanying book.
there's something bittersweet about august in new york.
the city is still buzzing with summer energy, but you can feel the seasons beginning to shift. the sunsets come a little earlier, the evenings are just a little softer, and everyone seems determined to squeeze every last drop out of summer.
personally? i kind of love it.
august is the month for saying yes to rooftop dinners, lingering in bookstores a little longer, catching an outdoor movie, or taking the ferry somewhere just because you can.
