Truth. Beauty. Freedom. Love.
It was my first time seeing this show and honestly, I don't even think I could call it a show. That was an experience. That was a party. One that I get to go to again and again. I went into sensory overload as soon as I got into the theatre. As I walked in realizing the show started in its own way. Won't spoil that. Just know there are swords! What a beautiful set design. It's a feast for the eyes. Every single person should be proud of what was on display.
❤️ | Getting to see Courtney Reed and Derek Klena as Satine & Christian was a real treat. How lucky was I? How lucky was I to see Ricky Rojas play Santiago again (he's back in the role after some time away)? I just kept saying to myself how lucky was I. This entire company is so special. Seeing Sophie Carmen-Jones as Nini was a treat too. That voice! Whew. The icing on this very fun cake was seeing Boy George as Harold Zidler. What fun it must be to be back on Broadway. What a heck of a show to do that with. I can't stress enough how lucky I was to experience this company. So. Yummy.
You gotta come into this knowing you're about to be dazzled. Much like the film, it's a spectacle but in all the good ways. You will be wowed. I'd be concerned if you weren't. The music was great. I loved how my audience would get tickled when a song would begin. Unsure of how the arrangement of a song so well known would go. I loved to look around and see happy faces rediscover their favorite tunes in new ways. I'll never hear Bad Romance the same way!!!
🖤 | I feel I must see it again. My eyes missed something. I know it. The theatre was utilized so well. Every inch of that space made you feel like you were at a party. Activities were happening all around me. I missed something. Counting the days until next time I'm at Moulin Rouge.
P.S. The itch to go back to Paris is so strong now.

There are nights in New York City that feel perfectly timed. No rush. No spectacle for the sake of spectacle. Just a seat in a dark theater and a story that meets you exactly where you are. Seeing Just In Time on Broadway was one of those nights.
